Rite Aid

I've been a bit busy, under-the-weather, behind this week. So, my deals haven't been as impressive. I am hoping to work out the Publix deal that Southern Savers is talking about this week.

I wanted to post this deal because it is a good example of coupon/savings for things that you really need. Here's my scenario: I use Tide detergent and Pampers Diapers. Seems Austin & I are both a bit high maintenance with generic versions of this. So, we stick with Tide/Pampers.

22 count pack of Pamper diapers (not a stellar deal; but a deal) originally 12.00 on sale 10.00
Tide New Total Care (20 loads) originally 9.99 on sale for 5.99
Note: This version of tide-the total care is new & a bit more expensive- it was not on the sale
display; but was the same price in the aisle next to the other versions of tide. I wanted Total
Care instead of regular because I had a 1.00 off coupon for Tide Total or .35cents off regular
tide. So, I took both to the register & asked if the Total Care would ring up
at 5.99 also. And it did. Good thing I checked.
Suave Shampoo 2.79

I also tried the Certizine- Rite Aide brand allergery medicine for 5.00 w/ 5.00 off coupon. It didn't work. So, I put it aside. And took it off my purchase. Just sharing, b/c sometimes things don't go as planned & you have to catch this.

My total was 21.00
-I gave her a 5/20 Rite Aid coupon from online that came to my email. They only take Rite Aid only coupons at my Rite Aid- always do this first or you can't use it once the total is below 20.00
-1.00 Off Tide Total Care
-Free Suave shampoo from signing up for the coupon last month
-1.00 Pampers
-6.00 Rite Aid Rebate Check from last month's purchases

Total out of pocket was about 5.21

When I started couponing, I said my goal was to get diapers really cheap. Two weeks ago, I paid 47 cents for about 40 diapers. This week I paid about 2.00 for 20. Not as good of a deal; but it's still a lot bigger savings then before I started coupons. My total savings today was over 75%.

I've been doing this since October, and I still mess things up. Read the deals wrong, etc. But, I know that my main goal was to lower our household/toiletries & I guarantee it's been cut by consistently 60%!

FREE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay- who doesn't like a nice dinner out ? Even if not with hubs then with girlfriends! Right now Restaurants.com is offering 70 percent off! go to the website..type in your zipcode and you will come up with a bunch of local restaurants.

The prices are BEFORE discount..select the ones you want to purchase and then type PREZ in the coupon code box. I bought 5 25.00 gift certificates for 15.00. Thats 3 dollars for a 25.00 gift certificate and 90 cents for a 10 dollar one. Read the fine pront because some restaurants require a minimum purchase. Buy up they last a year!

Thanks, Thriftymama

Basic Trip To CVS

I am writing out a scenario here; but if you really want to understand the lingo & get this down. PLEASE read all the CVS 101 details on Money Saving Mom or The Thrifty Mama. Also, I recommend Southern Savers until one of us actually writes up all the info they have on their blog.

I was out of Extra Care Bucks (ECB) store credit that prints on the end of your receipt when you use your CVS card. I ended up doing 4 transactions. Make sure you don't hold up the line or offer to get at the end of the line after the transactions.

Coupons I had with me before I went to CVS:

Charmin .25
Colgate 2/ 1.00 printables from a link from Southern Saver blog

Transaction 1.

Swipe YOUR CARD
Buy 2 Neutrogena Bars (transparent ones) at 2.99 each
Read SouthernSaver blog about this deal to get the hidden deal & the right ones.

Out of pocket: 6.43
ECB Back on Receipt: 10.00

Transaction 2:

Swiped my Card
Bought the Charmin 4.99 Toilet Paper that was on Sale for Sun/Mon only
Bought 2 BodiHeat Wraps (they have 1.00 off coupons on them) 3.99 each
-Used my 25 cent coupon for Charmin
-Used two 1.00 off heat wraps
-Used my 10 ECB from Transaction 1

Out of Pocket: paid .94 cents
ECB Back on Receipt: 6.00

Transaction 3:

Swiped Card
Buy 2 Colgate Total Advanced at 2.99 each
-Use (2)two 1.00 off coupons that I printed
Bought a pack of Orbit gum b/c my balance went low
-Used 6.00 ECB from Transaction 3

Out of Pocket: .07 cents (b/c the cashier didn't know how to make it even)
ECB on Receipt: 6.00 ECB back

Transaction 4:

I only did this one by accident because I was waiting in the pharmacy for so long.
I realized the Bodi Heat wraps had a limit of 5 per household and I had 6.00 of ECB burning a hole in my pocket. So...
I swiped my card.
Bought 2 more BodiHeat wraps at 3.99 w/ 1.oo off each coupon that I peeled off the front.
-My 6.00 of ECB from Transaction 3

OOP: 0.00
ECB on my receipt: 6.00 ECB

Total Spent out of pocket about 7.50
Total Credit for next purchase: 6.00
Roughly 1.50 spent total for 37.00

Or you can say I spent 7.50 for 37.00 worth of stuff & count my ECB toward my next purchase. Either way.
